Practice Match #2

Another great night for footy last night as our men took on South Mornington in our second practice match of the preseason. Our reserves (playing in the green SFNL strip) showed that they are capable of, playing good contested football and edging out South Mornington by 9 points in a good contest. Really pleasing to see these guys perform well. Our seniors took to the field a little undermanned, with around 8 of our core senior players missing and matched it with South Mornington early in what was a tight contest, that saw us only trailing by 13 points at the last break. South Mornington managed to get a run on with 5 quick goals in the last quarter which saw us chasing tail for the rest of the night as they eased away to a 59 point win. Despite the final score, there is plenty of upside when we have a full squad available and a few good lessons to come out of the night for us as well. The boys will certainly be better for the run. Brendan Shannon copped a knock to the head and suffered a concussion, whilst Josh Kerrigan also sustained a heavy knock and was taken to hospital in a neck brace for assessment - good news is he has been cleared of major damage. A couple of weeks to train hard and polish some skills before we take on Dandenong Redlegs at Greaves Reserve in round 1 on the 7th of April. Thanks to Baden Powell Cricket Club for their assistance as well as our volunteers and supporters on the night. Thanks also to our sponsors for their support in getting us on the field: TechPower Heating & Cooling
